Title: Tail of the Whale
Title: Tail of the Whale
Description: Obviously this is a photo of a whales tail, specifically a Blue Whale. Beyond that, this title and photo are special to me. When I was born, my parents sent out announcements of my arrival saying I was the "tail of the whale". See, my last name is Whaley and I was the last of 4 children in my family... so I was literally the tail of the whale (yes they collected whales). Back to this photo. In awe, we tracked the majestic Blue Whale as it gracefully glided through the waters off the coast of Douglas Island in Fritz Cove, just 8 miles north of Juneau, Alaska. With each surface, the vastness of its size and the elegance of its movements left us breathless. Despite the challenge of predicting its next appearance, we were captivated by the whale's slow-motion journey, a testament to its immense presence and power. As the largest animal on Earth, the Blue Whale commands respect and admiration, reaching lengths of up to 96 feet and weighing as much as 247,000 lbs. Truly, these magnificent creatures inspire wonder and reverence in all who encounter them.
"Tail of the Whale " is part of the Limited Edition Collection: Into the Wild - Intimate Encounters.
